Writings:

It's Not Working Any More!
by Gwilda Wiyaka

The old way of doing things, the one we have relied on all of our lives, is increasingly becoming obsolete. As we evolve, our hidden agendas, and fear based operating systems are no longer as effective as they used to be. Not only is it becoming increasingly difficult to fool others, it is also hard to fool ourselves. Our denials are becoming more and more difficult to maintain.

This is creating a time for choice. Are you on the train or not? Dancing with the higher ways of being while maintaining our pet denials (and we all have them) is rapidly becoming impossible.

Mind you, there is no right or wrong choice here. We all serve in our own way. It seems logical, however, to look at our options before we jump on or get off. If we choose to remain in our old expressions and operating systems, we need to drop frequency and go even deeper into denial. This is because the increase of frequency on the planet is shining more light and thicker blinders are needed to not see what we choose to ignore.

If we choose to get on the evolution train, we can plan to sacrifice most of our belief systems as well as much of our very identities. This is often times messy, intense personal work. Further more, we will increasingly find people and situations that we can no longer tolerate being around. The old way of being will appear coarse, abusive and intolerable.

This is also true of the off the train choice. If we have any hope of remaining dumb and happy, (and there is a lot to recommend it) we will have to avoid people who have chosen to tie a rocket to their back side.

It is soon time for a monster cell division at a planetary level. If you have ever watched cell division under a microscope, it goes something like this:

First all the chromosomes are happily swimming together in a seemingly random manner

Secondly they all line up in the center of the cell

Then the cell starts to pinch off, and the chromosomes split into two identical halves with one on one side and the other half on the other side.

Finally the cell divides completely and the two cells go on their merry way

It is important to recognize that there is no “bad” cell in this scenario. If these are dividing cells in an embryo, eventually they will differentiate and go off, gathering together with others of their kind, i.e. liver cells, heart cells etc.

In the same way, there is no bad choice here. It is just time for us to differentiate. It is so important to not judge another’s choice and to simply attend to our own.

How to choose? Just follow what feels right to you knowing that what and who was appropriate to be around before may be changing rapidly. It is not that anyone is wrong.

The old way is just not working any more.

In loving friendship,

Gwilda Wiyaka

A Student Writes About the Wilderness Experience:
Wilderness Camping Class

by Chris Gray

I grew up and spent all of the first forty years of my life as a resident of either suburban New York City, or lived in the city itself.  My idea of camping was to drive my car to a beach campsite, carry the tent over the sand dune to the reserved spot, pitch the tent, and spend the night.  I drove to the grocery to get dinner or bought something from the local fishermen and grilled it.  The campgrounds usually had hot running water and flush toilets.  The only inconveniences were the flies and the sand.

By participating in Gwilda’s Wilderness Camping class I was to enter another world.  We entered a pristine environment at 9,900 feet outside Gunnison, Colorado.  The altitude was hard for me to adjust to, but I just moved slowly.

We camped among the Aspen and pines, and the only sounds we heard were the birds and the wind, sometimes the thunder and the rain, and the gurgling of a nearby stream.  We took a hike one day and got to see breathtaking meadows full of sage and wildflowers with vistas to other mountains that were so beautiful you just had to stop and stare a while.  We took only organic or natural products; bug spray, sunscreen, to lessen our impact on the environment.  We had to filter our own drinking water.  The most extraordinary thing about that, was that for the first time I really lived consciously in my space.  I had to think about everything I did and what it was doing to the land around me.

I found myself moved to tears by the beauty of all I experienced, and the people with whom I was able to share this time.  My father was a commercial landscape architect.  I lived in a groomed and controlled natural world, even in suburbia.

I had many fears about what I would encounter when I first thought about going on this adventure with Gwilda and the class.  I came back a different person.  Living so consciously with the Earth was a new experience for me.  I know many of you reading this might wonder what kind of weirdo I am not to have known some of these things, but now I get it.  I’ll probably even go wilderness camping again.  And if Gwilda lets me, I might even help with next year's Wilderness Class.

Personalized, shamanically "worked" ceremonial tools are a necessity for any powerful reliable shamanic practice. In this two-day class we will build the two most important "tools of the trade", a drum and a rattle.

The drum will be a Native American style, hand held hoop drum. We will be using elk rawhide for the drum head and maple drum hoops. Drum beaters will also be built using deer skin and bamboo. If you desire, Gwilda will shamanically attune your drum to your personal birth cord.

The rattle head will be made of elk raw hide. Various furs and leathers will be available for decoration. There will also be an assortment of traditional objects to put inside and give your rattle its voice. We will cover in depth shamanic "working" of sacred tools, a skill that then can be applied to any other tools you care to create in the future.

All tools needed, will be provided. There will be a materials fee which covers both the drum and rattle.

Prerequisites: Lower World Shamanic Journey or Upper World Shamanic Journey

True manifestation begins with destruction. This program is a seasonal gathering based upon the Celtic holiday Samhain. Traditionally, during this time, shamanic practitioners gather together to break up energies that cause disruption and misfortune and create clear space in which to manifest for the following year. This is an ancient responsibility to their tribe, embraced in some form by shaman of all cultures.

During our time together, the hidden principles of, and energy behind manifestation will be covered in depth.

The evening of the last day of the program we will perform an ancient ritual (generously brought to us by Tom Cowan's teachings) "The Battle of the Evil Fomorians". All Path Home students and graduates will be invited to join us in this ancient ceremony for and in responsibility to our people.

Prerequisites: Lower World Shamanic Journey or Upper World Shamanic Journey

The age old question “What is the purpose of my life?” will be addressed during this one day program. While each of us came wired for one or more purposes, we often feel frustrated in trying to find and fulfill the same.

We will learn to journey for ourselves and others to get signs, symbols and guidance to help us live purposeful lives. Time will be spent on the interpretation of these ever evolving concepts that are threads running though our lives.

Sacred space creates the optimum environment for shamanic healing work to take place for the client as well as the practitioner

SPIRITUAL COACHING

Cost: $150.00
When: Saturday, January 13, 10:00am - 5:30pm
Prerequisites: Lower World or Upper World Shamanic Journey, Beginning Soul Retrieval, and Pattern Tracing

Our culture has been so long without shamanic healing that most clients haven’t a clue what ails them or how to make sense of soul retrieval once they have had one.  Furthermore, they often are so identified with the defense mechanisms developed to compensate for soul loss that a form of identity crisis may follow the healing.

This class is designed to teach the skills of stewarding clients through this sometimes challenging time.

RHYTHM & MOVEMENT

Instructor: Gwilda Wiyaka
Cost: $150.00
When: Sunday, January 14, 10:00am - 5:30pm
Prerequisites: None

The drum is the best friend of the shamanic practitioner. Drumming grounds us, takes us on our journeys, focuses healings and integrates spiritual work into our bodies. The trick is...playing it and walking at the same time!

This class is designed with that very dilemma in mind. The side benefits are an unexpected left brain – right brain integration and a stretching of what we think is possible for us rhythm-wise.

NEW!!!! HEALING WITH THE DRUM

Drums and rattles are powerful tools that can be used to build and channel power to effect changes in our physical world.

In this unique class we learn to use the drum and rattle to ground and center ourselves and others.  We will also cover the breaking up of old obsolete patterns, and releasing emotions.  We will discover that the drum can set the stage for new awareness, in order to rebalance us into a new state of being.

We will also cover how drumming circles can be used to unite people to one purpose and facilitate agreement in the workplace and other aspects of our daily lives.
